PUPILS were given a mole's eye view of a gas pipeline construction project in Darlington.
Students from the town's Red Hall Primary School were given a tour of Transco's £2m pipeline reinforcement scheme - and witnessed an ambitious drilling operation.
The company is building the 4km pipe from Carcut Beck to Five Arches Viaduct.
The school's deputy headteacher, Cynthia Simon, said the year six pupils enjoyed the excursion.
"Our topic at the moment is the local environment and how it is changing, so this fitted in nicely," she said.
"The children asked a lot of questions and were fascinated by seeing the directional drilling machine in operation."
