HOSPITAL patients have benefited thanks to £210,000 in legacy donations during the past financial year.
The amount is twice what the York Health Services NHS Trust received the previous year, with more people than ever making bequests.
The money has been used to improve patient services and provide equipment at York Hospital.
Gynaecology oncology nurse Lynne Jackson said: "Thanks to legacies, gynaecology cancer patients in need of emotional and psychological support can find sanctuary in a private room separate from the ward."
The money has also provided a room to protect haematology patients undergoing chemotherapy who are prone to infection.
Some of the money has been used to provide telemetry equipment that monitors patients' heart rhythms.
