Sedgefield Community Association's three-day Real Ale Beer Festival held in Ceddesfeld Hall and its grounds attracted hundreds of visitors and by 8.30pm on the second day it had run out of festival real ale.

Social club chairwoman Dr Wendy Gill, said the festival had been a great success and thanked everyone who had supported it. The festival included music and barbecues.

COACH TOURS: The Friends of Senior Citizens charity has organised day trips to Holy Island on Monday, July 21, Alnwick Castle on July 22 and St Mary's Loch on July 23. COLLECTION REQUEST: Darlington Borough Council has received an application from the charity Shelter for permission to hold a street collection in the town on Saturday, November 15. Licensing committee members will consider the application on Wednesday.

EVENT CANCELLED: A family fun day planned by Sedgefield Positive Youth Project for July 20 in the grounds of Hardwick Hall has been cancelled owing to unforeseen circumstances. It is hoped to hold the event later in the year.

BARN CONVERSIONS: Planning permission is being sought from Darlington Borough Council to change farm buildings at Low Skerningham, near Sadberge, into three homes, including the original farmhouse.

WALK DATE: A fundraising Walk for WellBeing will take place on Sunday, July 27. The 10km circular walk from Fishburn to Sedgefield, will start from Fishburn village green at 10am. For details call Carole Manton on (01740) 620090.

TAKEAWAY PLAN: Darlington Borough Council has received a planning application to change a vacant shop in the town's Bondgate into a hot food takeaway.

SUMMER FAIR: A summer fair will be held in Sadberge, near Darlington, on Saturday, July 19, from 2pm to 4pm. It has been organised by the village's pre-school group.

HOMES SCHEME: Developer Wharton Construction has applied for planning permission from Darlington Borough Council to build four terraced houses on the site of the former Rise Carr public house in the town.

FAMILY FUN: A family fun day will be held in Shildon Civic Hall car park, on Saturday, July 19, from 10.30am to 4pm.

YOGA TIME: Hunwick Community Association, in Hunwick, near Bishop Auckland, holds yoga classes on Mondays, from 6.30pm to 8pm.
