A QUILT featuring the signature of rowing legend Sir Steve Redgrave is being raffled to raise money for charity.

The double-bed size cover has been made by a group of women from Guisborough to form the centrepiece at the town's charity quilt festival later this month.

All the money raised through the raffle will be donated to Diabetes UK, of which five-times Olympic gold medallist Redgrave is the patron.

Stan Frank, of Leven Crafts, in Guisborough said: "It is an impressive patchwork quilt, made by women who attend classes here and who are customers.

"We sent a piece of the fabric to Steve Redgrave and he signed it with a permanent fabric pen - so it won't wash out or fade."

The quilt will be on display at the festival on Saturday, July 19, alongside other handmade quilts, at Sunnyfield House, the town's community centre.
