CAR thieves are still operating at Teesside Airport, only days after police criticised security arrangements.

Senior officers have become frustrated with airport bosses for not introducing measures to tackle thieves who target holidaymakers.

Last week, The Northern Echo reported that police had called for improved security to deal with the problem at the airport, which has become a crime hotspot.

Now another car has been broken into and a family returned from their holidays to find their car on bricks and the wheels missing.

Several cars have been stolen, cars have been broken into and radios stolen, during recent months.

Police have asked car users to be extra vigilant and not to leave valuables on display.

Officials at Teesside Airport said improving security was a top priority after a £20m deal was struck with Peel Airports to upgrade the site over the next five years.
