JOANNE Tanfield, from Stainsby Grange, was on top form at the BSJA Area 15 show at Allerton Park, where she won the Barkers Area 15 adult open championship and £250 first prize.

She was riding the eight-year-old German-bred Stainsby Sponeck, bought as a three-year-old from the Townhead Stud.

The pair were also fifth in the Scottish Ladies Championship and third at Area 15 in the Scope 1.35m qualifier. They also qualified for the Ladies Masters at the Scope Festival.

The winner of Scope 1.35m was Thirsk rider Sarah Russell, who is having a good season. She was riding Steve Fagg's Aminimo, with whom she also had two seconds in the open A4 classes.

She was also runner-up with Clare McCullagh's Halebop in a Great Leighs Newcomer.

Jessica Russell, from Essex but currently at Lynne and David Barker's Northallerton base, had a tremendous weekend. She won the A4s with Jimmy Small's Temple Guess What and Another What and took a double Foxhunter win with Clover Classic.

She also won a 1.25m open on Temple Croesus, besides good placings with Gaysayas Knockout.

Neal Robinson, from Stokesley, took an Equimax Discovery ahead of Stockton's Holly Stevenson, while Claire Watson took a Newcomers with Cappa Clover.

Jennifer Cowan, who qualified Bengad Rumex for the Horse of the Year Show in the ridden Mountain and Moorland at Cheshire County, had a good win with Storm Alert in the 1.10m open.

Juniors were on top form, with Pippa Allen winning a Golden Bears Tiny Tots with Midnight Dynamite.

Adam and Brad Valks, from Barnard Castle, both had good wins with Birmingham and Hickstead-bound Golden Fortune and Chocs Away Ginger.

David Harland, from Whitby, and Orkney Prince won the open A4, while James Reveley rode Double Dominic to win the National 138cm qualifier ahead of Daniel Neilson on Guinness Special.

l The Valks brothers were also on top form at the Nations Cup in Ireland last week.

Adam and Royal Declan won a silver medal as part of the 138cm team, while Brad and Chocks Away Ginger won a bronze medal with the 148cm team.

Adam, whose other pony, Diego III, won the 138cm grand prix, also won the individual classes on both days with Royal Declan and Golden Fortune.

He has been selected to represent England again at the Home Pony International in Wales this weekend.
