PEOPLE who are interested in setting up a community website are being invited to attend a free workshop tomorrow.

The session, hosted by The Northern Echo's Communigate programme, is at Stockton Central Library from 10am to noon. Free websites are available for community groups and non-profit organisations.

HOMES WANTED: A bid is being made to find homes for two dogs found roaming the streets of Middlesbrough. Council dog wardens picked up the pets, which are staying at Waterfall Kennels, in Guisborough. One is a cross-breed bitch aged about one or two, the other, a Jack Russell terrier, is not much older. Anyone who can help is asked to call the kennels on (01287) 634240 between 1pm and 4pm. Middlesbrough Council will microchip the dogs and provide optional neutering.

GARDEN DRAW: Ten artists were invited to the garden of Nunthorpe resident Barbara Thompson yesterday to paint and draw the grounds. About 100 people visited the garden to have high tea and were given the chance to buy the artists' work. The event raised an estimated £1,500 for the Edward Guy Foundation.

POLICY IDEAS: Stockton Borough Council is inviting residents to register their views on a draft licensing policy, following the Royal Assent for the Licensing Act 2003, making councils responsible for licensing premises and individuals to sell alcohol. The draft can be seen at any of the borough's libraries.

BATHROOM BLAZE: Fire-fighters were called to a fire in Radford Close, Stockton, after an electric shower caught fire. The fire was out by the time crews arrived, but smoke had slightly damaged the bathroom. No one was injured in the incident, which took place at 12.20pm on Friday.

CATERING AWARD: St Clare's Primary School, Acklam, Middlesbrough, has won the Local Authority Catering Association's title of Catering Team of the Year in recognition of the work done by cook Sarah Wilkinson and her team in promoting healthy eating.
