Billingham swimmers had a productive weekend. On Saturday Emma Wilson and Christopher Wilkinson competed at the Gateshead and Whickham Open Gala both with brilliant swims. Emma, with all PBs collected bronze in the 400m IM,with swims in the 50m back, and 100m free. Christopher came away with gold in the 50fly and 100m free, his other races being 100m fly, 200m IM, 400m free and 50m free.

Older members of the club competed at the NECASA Masters Long Course event at Leeds. Although the meet was over two days Billingham only competed on the Saturday, as it was on a GB points system no medals were gained. Many PBs were accomplished with members putting in good performances. Those members competing were Guy and Shirley Fawkes, Mark Wilson, Ian Muscroft, Sue Wilson, Lorraine Riddle and Alister Wrigley.

On Sunday members travelled to Stalybridge near Manchester to compete in the North of England Biathlon and Triathlon Championships.

The Biathlon consisting of a run and swim of various distances according to age categories and the triathlon the same but with a shoot of ten shots.

In the Men's Masters category Guy Fawkes collected bronze in the Tri and came eighth in the Bi, coming first in the swim, second in the shoot and 11th in the run. Mark Wilson finished ninth in the Tri and 12th in the Bi, in the shoot he was fifth, swim ninth and the run 14th.

Competing in the Ladies Masters were Shirley Fawkes who picked up gold in both the Bi and Tri finishing in second place in all three categories, Gillian Sheehan finished fifth in both the Bi and Tri. coming fifth in the swim, 7th in the run and eighth in the shoot.

Two competitors competed in the 15-16 years category. In the boys Matthew Sheehan finished fifth in the Bi and sixth in the Tri. In the swim he finished fourth, in the run sixth and seventh in the shoot. Emma Wilson finished seventh in the Tri and eightk in the Bi, in the swim and shoot finishing in fifth position and in the run ninth.

In the 13-14 year age group Lisa Sheehan competed in the Biathlon finishing in silver position finishing third in the run and fourth in the swim.
