Portman Under-15 Cup: Stocksfield had the better of South Northumberland in the Northumberland Semi-Final of the Portman Under-15 Cup.

Batting first, they totalled 90 which included 37 by James Prince with five boundaries. Sood was again in good form with the ball for South North claiming three wickets for just ten runs in four overs.

When they went into bat, the visitors managed only 73 which included 29 with three boundaries by Penfold. Martin Tyrell found form with the ball for Stocksfield and in 11 overs he captured four wickets for just 11 runs.

Bob Hay Under-18 Cup Final

Evenwood celebrated winning The Readers Durham County League Bob Hay Cup when they defeated Bishop Auckland by 24 runs. Batting first, Evenwood who had ground advantage needed with 114 for seven on the board which included 39 by Mark Little. He hit one six and three boundaries while Ryan Nicholson had four fours contributing 34 runs.

David Turgoose was in good form with the ball for Bishop Auckland and from five overs he claimed four wickets for a meagre 13 runs.

When they replied, Bishops could only manage 90 losing six wickets. Johnson top scored with 26 not out and for Evenwood, Little also found form with the ball capturing two wickets for just 11 runs.

Bob Pendlebury Under-15 Trophy

The runs flowed for Brandon when they entertained Etherley in The Reades Durham County League Bob Pendlebury Under-15 Trophy. Dean Crampton recorded six fours in an unbeaten 49 and Stephen Wallace had three boundaries contributing 25 to the total of 124 for three. Two of the three wickets to fall were taken by Lee at a cost of just 21 runs in five overs.

In reply, Etherley made a bold attempt but were well short of the target when they finished with just 97 for seven on top. Lee top scored with 37 which included six fours. Wallace was also in form with the ball for Brandon and from five overs he took two wickets for 16 runs while Glen Wilson captured two wickets without conceding a run from the one over he sent down.

Bishop Auckland visited Tudhoe and won by eight wickets. Faced with a target of 80, they were grateful that Cowling struck form and he had one boundary carrying his bat for 35. The biggest score of the tie was made by Lucas Jackson whose 37 was important when Tudhoe reached 79 for the loss of four wickets. Jackson hit one six and found the boundary line on another three occasions.

Mark Lee, who had three fours in 30 and Daniel Talbot with 29 led Washington to a match winning 120 for five at home to Ushaw Moor for whom Kerry returned two of 30 in five overs.

When Matthew Thompson took two for four in five overs and Phil Hooper two for 11 from three overs, Ushaw Moor managed only 58 for seven.

After totalling 62 for the loss of eight wickets, Langley Park edged into the next stage of the competition defeating Shildon by five runs. Annthony Dinsdale took three wickets for three runs in four overs when Shildon responded with 57.

Esh Winning overtook the Evenwood total of 88 for three with half their wickets in tact. Stuart Hall had a couple of boundaries in 28 and Paul Shaw struck two sixes and one four adding 24 to the Esh total of 89 for five. Forster, was in splendid form with the ball for Evenwood claiming four of the five wickets to fall for only 21 runs in five overs.

When they made first use of the wicket, Evenwood ended on 88 for three and Nicholson batted through the innings, striking six boundaries in an undefeated 40. Alderson contributed 28 and for Esh David Thornton had two for 23 in five overs.

The Readers Durham County League Under-15s

Lee Formosa was in outstanding form with bat and ball when Crook Town defeated Washington. When the visitors batted first Formosa top scored with 26 out of a total of 79 for three and he then claimed seven wickets for a mere 13 runs as Washington were all out for just 38.

Willington enjoyed a nine wickets victory at Ushaw Moor who they restricted to 92 for nine when Chris Harper and Fergus Hopper both took two wickets.

When Willington replied Lee Tinkler carried his bat for 34 and Chris Harker finished unbeaten on 28 after James Stock had contributed 31.

Brandon also won losing one wicket when they met Langley Park. Faced with a target of 85 they have Stephen Wallace in outstanding form and the youngster struck ten boundaries in an unbeaten 62 out of a total of 85 for one.

John Wynn (24) top scored in the Langley Park total of 84 for five as Wallace captured two wickets for 11 runs and Glen Wilson two for 16, the pair both bowling five overs.

At Tudhoe, Bishop Auckland won by 23 runs. When they made first use of the wicket Bishops posted 89 for four and most of their runs came from Robert Nevison who had five fours in 34 and John Barker who carried his bat for 29 with a couple of boundaries. Lucas Jackson was the most productive bowler in the Tudhoe attack conceding only 13 runs in five overs for two wickets.

When they went into bat Tudhoe managed only 66 for seven including a top score of 19 by Liam Richardson. Barker followed up his good performance with the bat by taking two wickets for just 14 runs in five overs.

Durham Coast League Under-13s

Dawdon celebrated their first win of then season and Murton have yet to taste victory after the sides met at the weekend.

Batting first, Dawdon totalled 77 as Jonathan Rowntree captured five for 13 and Harrison two for 14 in the visitor's attack.

Responding, Murton could only make 62 with Scurr returning three for ten, Shah three for nine and Thompson two for 13 for Dawdon.

Seaham Park defeated Castle Eden by seven wickets. Faced with a target of 77 they were indebted to Varley who made the game's top score of 34. Hodgson added a useful 15 and Stanscliffe remained unbeaten on 12 out a total of 79 for three. When they made first use of the wicket Castle Eden posted 76 for four which included 27 by Bailey while for Seaham Park, Darren Sutherland captured two of the wickets for 14 runs.

Liam Mallaburn was in good form for Silksworth who easily defeated Hylton. He ended unbeaten on 40 and Fairley contributed 34 to the Silksworth total of 104 for two before Hylton were reduced to 66 for five as Fairley claimed three wickets for just 12 runs.

Under-15s

Peterlee were all out for 53 when they visited neighbours Castle Eden. Ross Kirtley had a good night with the ball for Castle Eden claiming four wickets for just three runs in 1.5 overs. Christopher Tudball returned the excellent figures of three for four from four overs and Keith Bailey also sent down four overs for his two for nine return.

Batting first Castle Eden ended on 90 for the loss of five wickets. Jonathan Malkin carried his bat for 23 and Tudball contributed 20 while for Peterlee Wintrip took two of the five wickets to go down for 13 runs in four overs.

Bill Quay overtook the Boldon CA total of 100 for five with three wickets remaining. Nathan Drewrey struck 52 and for Boldon, Karl Frater took two wickets for 15 runs in four overs and Purvis had two wickets for one run from the five balls he delivered.

Batting first Boldon CA realised 100 for five and Burridge top scored with 21. Chris Dunn returned figures of two for ten and Aaron Farrell two for 17, the two youngsters each bowling four overs.

Silksworth were another side to pass the 100 mark ending with 105 for three on the board against Easington. Craig Nield hit six boundaries in an unbeaten before Easington replied with 78 for eight which included 22 by Harriman. Adam Fairley bowled well in the Silksworth attack capturing three wickets for 16 runs in four overs and Adam Thompson also bowled four overs returning two for seven.

The game between Seaham Park and Hylton was postponed.

Foster's Tyneside Senior League Under-15s

Consett were all out for just 37 when they played Blaydon at Blackfyne. Michael Banks and Gaston were in outstanding form in the Blaydon attack as they shared eight wickets. Banks claimed five wickets for just 11 runs in five overs while Gaston returned figures of three for six from the 3.4 overs he sent down.

When they batted first Blaydon ended with 88 for five on the board including 26 not out by Carr who hit one six and one boundary and 20 from Johnson who found the boundary line on two occasions.

After restricting Annfield Plain to 84 for five Burnopfield won with eight wickets remaining. Young struck four fours in 40 and Allen had a couple of boundaries making 29. When Annfield Plain batted first most of their runs came from Scott Harrison and Graham Brinton. Harrison recorded one six making the game's top score of 41 while Brinton had a couple of boundaries contributing 26.

Glen Harrison, with five boundaries in 33, top scored for Lanchester in their home game with Ryton. Nick Ridley added 29 and Ben Cleary 28 to the Lanchester total of 197 for four before the visitors were all out for 50 as Nick Ridley took four wickets for just six runs in five overs.

At Whickham, Sacriston overtook the home team's total of 67 for eight without conceding a wicket.

Under-18s

Just five runs separated winners Benwell Hill from Blagdon Park. Glen Robertson struck three boundaries in a top scoring 25 when Benwell Hill made 75 before restricting Blagdon Park to 70 as Richard Waddell claimed three wickets for 17 runs in five overs and James Kilpatrick took two for nine from the two overs he delivered.

Backworth won more comfortably on their visit to Tynemouth who they dismissed for 80 which included 22 by Richard Hay and 21 from Ian Mitchell. Symington was in good form with the ball for Backworth and from three overs he captured three wickets for just eight runs while Greg Rankin took two for nine in five overs.

Batting first Backworth ended with the formidable total of 130 for six on the board. Mark Minto scored 35 and Andrew Charlton 24 while for Tynemouth Jack Patterson had a good night with the ball taking five wickets for 31 runs in five overs.

Tynedale had nine wickets remaining defeating Morpeth. Although Palmer scored 30, Morpeth managed only 62 as Tristan Douglas took three wickets for nine runs in four overs and Gavin Boyd had three for 20 from five overs.

James Roy Crichton carried his bat for 22 and Joseph Barber ended unbeaten on 39, with two sixes as Tynedale won losing just one wicket.
