Archaeologists have uncovered items from the Middle Ages in Scarborough's old town area.

Leather wear and fish bones are among the finds from a dig next to an old chapel in Eastborough, which is being converted into an arts centre.

The finds, which were revealed as a result of the work, are to be put into the town's Rotunda Museum once they have been identified and researched.

Chris Hall, of Scarborough and District Archaeological and History Society, said: "We found medieval walls and a couple of very large pits used for dumping rubbish, which have revealed some fascinating insights into life in the town centuries ago."
