Tow Law Area League: Tow Law Station won their top of the table battle at Cornsay Royal Oak by three points, pushing their hosts down to fourth place but still having to share the lead with Esh Stag's Head. Only Ian Truby and Chris Close took singles points for the Oak, whilst Norman Brown, John Campbell, Shaun Kenny and George Hope moved the visitors ahead. The Station went on to complete a good victory by taking the first two of the three doubles.

Esh Stag's Head and Tow Law Station hold a one point lead over Sunniside Comedian, who have a one point advantage over Cornsay Royal Oak and Billy Row Club, who share fourth place.

Tow Law and District League

Hamilton Row Black Horse caused a big upset when they visited Tow Law Dan's Castle B and only dropped one point, when Angela Suddes won for the home side. The Horse had wins from Alan Taylor, Barry Sims, Frazer Armstrong and John Robinson. This defeat kept the Castle out of the leading bunch of teams.

Tow Law New Market A shot up to share the second place after they only dropped one point at Tow Law Rose and Crown. John Mudd put the home side ahead but then the Market took over with wins from Tom Dowson, Bill Goodall, Terry Taylor and Dale Duxfield.

The Captain's Table is creating interest with the current positions being 1st equal Tow Law Football Club and Tow Law Station 7 each; 3rd Dan's Castle B 6; 4th Sunniside Comedian 5; 5th equal Newhouse Club and New Market B 4 each; 7th equal Hamilton Row, New Market A and the Rose and Crown 3 each; 10th Dan's Castle A 1.

Crook League

Crook Belle Vue had their lead cut at the top of the First Division to eight points when they only collected two points from their visit to Willington Market, who managed to move up to share third place with Crook Travellers Rest B and Crook Queen's Head A.

Crook Royal Sun are in second place with a four points advantage over the third placed teams and have a match in hand on all the other leaders.

Only Ivor Phillipson and Dave Hakin managed to take points for Belle Vue at Willington, whilst the home side had points from Dave Peacock, John Blackett, Micky Toward and Stuart Shillan with Blackett and Peacock adding the doubles.

The battle to avoid the bottom spot in the Second Division saw Howden Australian win by three points on their visit to Crook Jelly's Bar B. The home side had wins from Mick Harker and Wayne Harker, whilst the Aussie's points in the singles came from Michael Lee, Stephen Heyes, Stephen Burke and Val Flounders with Heyes and Lee adding the doubles.
