A TOTAL of £9,000 was raised for children's charities by 32 teams competing in the tenth annual clay pigeon shoot held by Weardale Estates.

The shooters, from estates throughout the North-East, raised £4,500. The sum was matched by Weardale Estates. Other sponsors were the Black Sheep Brewery and Allenheads Inn.

FARM FIRE: Six rows of bailed hay were destroyed by fire at Tudhoe Hall Farm, near Spennymoor, just after 6.30pm on Saturday.
