A SIX-YEAR-OLD girl was knocked over by a cyclist and then mown down by a motorcyclist as she ran home to her mother.

Chloe Clarke was left battered and bleeding by the side of the road after the two accidents, which happened within seconds of each other.

Yesterday, police began a hunt for the motorbike rider, who picked Chloe up from the road but left her severely concusssed on the pavement.

Her mother, Clare Burdon, 28, said: "It was awful. Chloe was in a state of complete shock.

"She was just recovering from one accident when she was knocked down again within seconds.

"Then for this motorbike rider to abandon her like that was the last straw,

"I am very angry and very upset at what happened."

The accidents happened on Friday night as Chloe played with friends near her home in Shildon, County Durham.

She stepped into the road as a boy on a bike rode by, and was knocked to the ground.

The youngster ran off in tears to tell her mother, but as she crossed the road, a motorcyclist knocked her down.

The young cyclist who hit Chloe has apologised, but police are hunting the motorbike rider.

The rider was on a blue bike and wore a white crash helmet.

Anyone with information is asked to call police.
