THE film version of the true story of Women's Institute members who bared all for charity is to get a showing in a north town.

Calendar Girls, featuring Helen Mirren, Julie Walters, Penelope Wilton and other British stars, tells the story of Rylstone WI.

A dozen members of the group famously stripped off for a charity calendar after one of their husbands died of leukaemia.

It exceeded all expectations by becoming a huge seller, turning the WI members into international celebrities.

The film, which was one of the hits of the Cannes Film Festival, is released at the end of the summer with gala showings in London, Leeds and Skipton.

But it is also to be given a screening in Thirsk on Friday, October 24, for ladies of the WI only. The film will start at 2.30pm after a noon lunch.
