A CAST of more than 100 will take to the stage to perform a Gilbert and Sullivan classic later this week.
Not many schools can claim to have tried to recreate the colour and scale of The Mikado, but Richmond Primary School will do so on Thursday and Friday evening.
The whole of year 5 and year 6 have a part to play in the show, which will be performed in front of parents and deaf-signed by a member of staff.
Parent Lorraine Hodgson and teaching assistant Ktima Robson have been busy making 50 of the children's kimonos.
The show's producer, Gillian Ash, said: "The children are really excited rather than nervous, but it has been a challenge preparing for the show.
"We have come across a few problems in our dress rehearsal today, but we hope to have them ironed out for the performances."
The school is no stranger to Gilbert and Sullivan, with the children having performed The Pirates of Penzance in 2001.
There are also plans for a school production of HMS Pinafore in 2005.
