WORKERS have been rewarded for being injury-free with a cheque for the charity of their choice.

The employees at Corus Teesside blast furnace have gone more than a year without injury, earning them a £1,000 donation to charity.

The money is going to the Riding for the Disabled Association Unicorn Centre in Hemlington, Middlesbrough, which provides riding and therapy for disabled children.

Blast furnace manager Harry Stewart said: "Everyone has played their part in making sure that we are working as a safe team. It is a pleasure to see that a deserving charity will benefit from our efforts."

Corus director Ian Forman said: "Safety performance is the best example of teamwork because it shows that everyone is working hard to create a safe environment for one another."
