A refrigeration company is continuing to expand after recruiting another 30 staff.

Kenmore UK, of Crook, County Durham, has contracts with some of the biggest names in the business, including Electrolux, Bosch, Candy and Hotpoint.

The Norwegian-owned firm, which has been established in the UK for more than 30 years, now has a turnover of £17m and employs 315 staff.

It manufactures components for the refrigeration industry and last year announced a contract with Electrolux in Italy which may be worth about £25m over four years.

Managing director Frank Bell said the key was working closely with the workforce and customers and investing in new equipment.

He said: "We have been very successful in developing the business with a range of customers, mostly in Europe.

"We have been helped by the recent reductions in interest rates and by the fact that the pound has weakened against the euro.

"But it is very clear that we need the Government to continue to ensure that we don't allow the pound to get too strong."
