A MOBILE police station has been set up in a park to encourage people to come forward who have information about the death of a father-of-two.

Detectives investigating the murder of Darren Manders are placing the unit in Middlesbrough's Albert Park.

The 31-year-old's badly decomposed body was discovered by a dog walker, partly concealed under a pile of logs in a wood in Nunthorpe, Middlesbrough, on Thursday, July 3.

The last sighting of him was on June 5, in the town's Bow Street, where he lived.

Cleveland Police have focused their attention on the street and have put up posters in shops, as well as setting up the mobile incident room.

Superintendent Karnail Dulku, who is leading the investigation, hopes that setting the vehicle up in the park will make it more accessible to a wider public, especially during the fine weather, and may bring about some new leads.

He said: "Last week Darren's parents made a heartrending and emotional appeal for information which would lead us to Darren's killer or killers.

"This was an extremely courageous move on their part and I had hoped we would then receive a good amount of information.

"Unfortunately the response has been less than we hoped for so we are moving our van to the park.

"Darren had many friends and acquaintances across the town, not just in the Bow Street area, so this will give people the chance to come forward and speak in confidence to my officers.

"If people do not wish to speak to an officer in person they may also contact the incident room on (01642) 303188."
