LIFE in the Armed Forces is a family affair for the North-East brothers who have made military history.
John and Michael Dixon have become the first twins to welcome a third brother, David, into the same Army regiment.
The pair returned to their native Sunderland following six weeks' adventure training in Canada, to attend their brother's New Year enlistment.
David, 17, is following his brothers' lead in opting for a career in one of the Army's most famous units, the Coldstream Guards. He starts his basic training in Aldershot this week, before returning to Catterick, in North Yorkshire.
Sergeant John Bradlaugh, at Sunderland Armed Forces Careers Office, recruited all three brothers. He said: "I enlisted Michael and John in 2000 and both have been extremely successful in their careers so far.
"I am delighted that David is making history following his brothers into the Coldstream Guards. The skills he will learn will equip him for both Army life and his career after he leaves the service."
David, who plays for Birtley Town Football Club, said: "I have always been keen to hear about the ongoing training my brothers have with the Army and they have kept me up to date on their training - it is exactly the challenge I am looking for."
