A SEMINAR on the risks associated with taking drugs will be held later this month.

Parents and carers over the age of 16 are being urged to attend the Drug Awareness evening in Northallerton to hear from a range of specialists.

The Hambleton Community Safety Partnership has organised a programme featuring speakers from the local Drug Action Team and North Yorkshire Police.

Various agencies, including from the local treatment centre, will provide advice and literature.

Community Safety Officer Tricia Thornton said: "Drugs are very accessible to the young now and parents/carers need to know the signs to look for and what to do if they suspect there are problems."

The seminar will be held at Hambleton Forum, from 7pm until 9.30pm on Tuesday, July 29
