AFTER three years, nine schools in Middlesbrough have completed the town's Healthy School Scheme.
Those that took part received certificates of accreditation at a ceremony earlier this week.
The scheme promotes equality of opportunity, self review and the recognition of individual talents and abilities.
It aims to support schools to become healthier places for staff, pupils and the wider community, and assists them to progress through the stages of the scheme which addresses areas including social inclusion, the reduction of teenage pregnancy and healthy eating.
The certificates were presented by Professor Peter Kelly, director of public health, Terry Redmayne, Middlesbrough's corporate director of education, and gymnast Caroline Jennison.
