Yarm Preparatory School pupils have taken to the stage for an end-of-term production of a hit musical.

The school's production of Joseph and his Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat, by Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice, involved all its year six pupils and was praised by headteacher Gillian Taylor.

"I have seen a few school productions over the years but I have to say, this one of the best," said Mrs Taylor.

"It was spectacular and really colourful. All the children appeared on stage in white T-shirts then peeled them off one by one to reveal all of the different colours of the coat."

Youngsters at the school have also taken a charity day in their stride by going to school wearing the wrong trousers.

Inspired by animated favourites Wallace and Gromit, pupils wore anything from pyjama bottoms to their father's work trousers.

"It looked quite comical to see everyone with their normal school uniforms on the top half and silly trousers on the bottom," said Mrs Taylor.

"The children had a whale of a time and it was a great way to raise money."

The event raised £300 for children's hospices and hospitals across the UK.
