A MAN killed himself at his Ferryhill home after he and his wife separated, an inquest heard yesterday.
Shaun Francis Doyle, 52, was found hanging from a loft hatch by police who were called to his home, in Watt Street, by neighbours concerned about his welfare.
Mr Doyle and his wife, Gloria Jean, had separated after six years partly because of his heavy drinking, Mrs Doyle told the inquest at Bishop Auckland Magistrates' Court yesterday.
Pathologist Dr Don Senadhira said Mr Doyle died as a result of hanging and that blood tests showed he had consumed about four times the legal driving limit of alcohol.
South Durham Coroner Colin Penna recorded a verdict that Mr Doyle took his own life.
