A Darlington schoolboy has written to a national opticians chain to say he is unimpressed with its latest television advertisement.
Jake Thompson, 12, says his classmates at Hurworth Comprehensive School kept chanting: "You should have gone to Specsavers" after he began wearing new spectacles with thick frames.
'I really liked my glasses," he said.
"I think it was because they had such thick frames that my friends kept chanting the Specsavers advert at me and I just got really fed up of it."
Gery Learmont, director of Specsavers in Darlington, invited Jack to select new frames from the High Row shop after receiving the letter.
He said: "Jake's specs were actually very trendy and were a style that is very popular with young adults.
"However, because he was so sick of his friends teasing, we sorted him out with some less distinct frames, as well as some prescription sunglasses.
