On Wednesday, July 9, nine Quakers competed at the Darlington Harriers Pitstop 10K.

On an extremely warm evening, Barry Stephenson flew round the three-lap flat course to finish a clear first in a time of 33:03. Alasdair Tatham was next home for the club to finish third overall in a time of 35:20, followed by Nick Millar, 6th, 36:53, Wayne Bramley, 8th, 36:57, Dawn Richardson, 3rd lady and 17th overall, 39:21, Stevie Snook, 28th, 42:40, Graham Park, 29th, 42:54, Phil Rutter, 31st, 43:49 and Wendy Clasper, 65th, 66:32 (PB).

In the junior race Alexandra Marie Snook finished the fun run in 4th place in a time of 12:58, followed by Josh Giblin, 12th, 17:10 and Nina Glasper, time not recorded.

On Thursday, 19 June, the 3rd White Horse Handicap was ran. Darren Maddison was first home completing the 5.5 mile course in a time of 49:08. Daren Maddison therefore leads the overall series to date with 291 points, followed by Sheila Davies, 263 points and Bev Snook, 255 points.

The next White Horse Handicap will be held on Tuesday, 5 August. Registration is at The White Horse Pub, Harrogate Hill, Darlington. Registration closes at 6.45 pm, race commences 7.15 pm. The course covers 5.5 miles over footpaths and bridleways north of Darlington. Prize to all competitors.

The next Durham Dales fell race will be held on Sunday, 27 July. Monks Moor Fell Race consists of 13.5 miles over 3413 feet. Registration is from the side of road 1 mile above Middleton in Teesdale, GR 948 264. The course is partially marked. Experience/local knowledge/navigation skills essential. Full kit compulsory. Kit checks will be in force. Over 18's only. Start time 11:00 am. Toilet facilities one mile from start in Middleton in Teesdale. Monks Moor also includes 2 mile Junior fell race start time 11:15 am.

On Friday, 1 August, Middleton in Teesdale Gala Fell Race will be held on the evening, with a 10K road race to follow on the Sunday morning, 3 August. Further details will be issued shortly.

Darlington Harriers

The fourth Pitstop Races took place on a warm evening at Croft Circuit on July 9.

The 2km fun run was won by Richmond and Zetland in both categories. First boy was Douglas Roberts, first girl Jessie Roberts in times of 11.31 and 12.35 respectively. For the Harriers Nicole March finished seventh in 14.07 and Sophie Hird 11 in 17.09.

The 10km wheelchair races proves very popular with its flat fast surface.

Results: 1 Ian Thompson 26:23.2, Jason Riuchard 26:32, 3 Tanni Grey Thompson 26:45, Steve Williamson 28:25, Mark Rostron 28:45, Sarah Loughran 29:31.

The main 10km race was won by Barry Stevenson (Quakers) for the second time in 33.03 followed by Martin Grainger (Darlington) in 33:31; 3 Alasdair Tatham 35:2.
