A CARE home with a long history held its annual summer fair yesterday.
Christ's Hospital, at Sherburn House, near Durham, is better known at Sherburn Hospital and dates from 1181, when it was a treatment centre for lepers. Today it is a care home with about 85 elderly residents and is run by a charity.
Guest of honour was Mike Parr, a presenter on BBC Radio Newcastle, and attractions included performances by the North Tyneside Children's Steel Band.
There were donkey and trap rides, a Punch and Judy show and a variety of stalls, including plants, crafts, books, bric-a-brac and home-made cakes.
Proceeds from the fair will go to the residents' fund.
