A MAN was found on a York street in the early hours of yesterday bleeding heavily after being assaulted.
Police spent much of Sunday making inquiries into the attack after the victim was taken to York District Hospital with serious injuries.
The man, who has not been named by police, was found in Lower Friargate shortly after 1.15am and police closed the road, along with the nearby King Street and Cumberland Street, to carry out a series of inquiries.
Any witnesses to the incident are asked to call police on (01609) 783131.
