POLICE have identified the body of a 31-year-old man who was found in the River Tyne, near the Redheugh Bridge, Newcastle, about three weeks ago.
He was Richard Merrifield, from Blyth, Northumberland. An inquest into his death was opened and adjourned yesterday.
