GARDEN WINNERS: The results of Ingelby Barwick Parish Council's garden competition have been announced. The front garden category was won by Ron Johnson, Bill and Linda Bradley came second and Susan Wright came third. The back garden category was won by Bill and Linda Bradley, with Richard and Joanne Payne in second place, and Ron Johnson third. The tubs and hanging baskets category was won by Bill and Cynthia Walker, Joe Rennison came second and Susan Wright came third. Winners will be presented with a trophy and a Peter Barratt's Garden Centre voucher for £50.

PUB AWARD: The Pot and Glass, in Church Road, Egglescliffe, has been named the Cleveland branch of the Campaign For Real Ale's Spring Pub. The pub was praised for its commitment to real ale and the excellent condition in which it is served. Ann and Dave Bunyan have run the pub for four years and this is their first award. The Pot and Glass now goes forward as the first of four candidates for pub of the year, to be decided at the annual meeting of the branch early next year.

DARTS SUCCESS: Yarm and District Ladies' Darts League has ended another successful season, culminating in its annual presentation evening. The league is looking for new teams within four miles of Yarm Town Hall for the start of the new season in September. To get involved, call (01642) 780852. GOLDEN ANNIVERSARY: Preston Hall Museum, Eaglescliffe, is celebrating 50 Years as a museum with a series of events and activities starting on Thursday, August 7, from 10am to 4pm, featuring the aboriginal storyteller and artist Francis Firebrace.

CHURCH FUND : A bookstall in Yarm High Street raised £122 for the renovation for St Martin's Church, Kirklevington.
