A REWARD of up to £5,000 has been offered by police for information about a man they want to speak to in connection with a murder.

Tony Karim is wanted for questioning about the death of Sheik Mohamed, after he was assaulted in Hull city centre during the early hours of Thursday, July 24.

Police believe Mr Karim, who has links in the region, may have left Hull.

Detective Superintendent Paul Davison, leading the investigation, said: "I am determined that I will find Tony Karim. However, it is crucial that we trace him immediately.

"I hope that anyone who knows where he is will ring us and tell us. We are offering a large amount of money for information that leads to an arrest.

"If somebody knows where Mr Karim is now we urge that person to come forward and tell us. They can expect up to £5,000 for that information if it leads to an arrest.

"We recognise people's anxiety or fear when becoming involved in a murder inquiry but I can personally guarantee that all information we receive about the whereabouts of Mr Karim will be treated sensitively."

Mr Karim is described as 19 and 5ft 7in. He is of Iraqi nationality but speaks very good English.

Police said it was not known how long he had been living in Hull. Tony is not his real name, but one that he is known by locally.

Anyone with information is asked to call Humberside Police, on (01482) 326111.
