THREE generations of women got together yesterday to take part in a leisure project aimed at encouraging daughters, mothers and grandmothers to spend time together.

The "glitz and glam'' event, organised by Easington Primary Care Trust, took place at the Parkside Community Centre, Seaham.

The project is part of the trust's Health For All Stressbusters scheme to promote positive mental health and wellbeing.

The project helps people reduce their stress levels and the impact it has on their friends and family.

At the three generations day, health workers joined forces with Parkside Youth Group to hold the pampering afternoon as part of their education in the community campaign.

Among the activities available during the session were head massage, aromatherapy, reflexology, manicures and mini facials.

Linda Crosby from Health For All said: "The session has been organised as a way of bringing young people aged 12 to 16 together with older people - in this case their mothers and grandmothers - to promote taking part in healthy activities."
