THE latest phase of a crackdown on dog owners who allow their pets to foul the streets of Darlington was launched yesterday.
Community wardens left their uniforms at home to go undercover as pet owners in an effort to eradicate the problem of dog fouling in the worst-affected parts of town.
Irresponsible dog owners were warned of the consequences of failing to clear up after their pets, because wardens have the authority to impose £50 on-the-spot fines.
The operation targeted parks and other open spaces, as well as children's play areas, where are there heightened concerns about health hazards.
