Anxious Seaham residents are being offered specialist security advice from a police-led partnership after three recent sex attacks

People living on the Westlea and Deneside estates are invited to a security roadshow at the Eastlea Community Centre between 10am and noon next Tuesday.

It has been organised by the police, Age Concern, Disc Homesafe and the District of Easington Community Safety Partnership following the attacks.

Detective Chief Inspector Brian Tait, who heads Easington division's CID, said the roadshow was being put on to address the understandable fears and concerns of vulnerable members of the community.

"In the light of recent events public concerns are understandable and all the agencies involved have discussed a range of options to reduce fear of crime,'' he said.

l On Monday, Barry Wilkinson, 28, from Watling Avene in Seaham appeared in court charged with two indecent assaults on pensioners living on the Westlea estate.
