A Hoggarth & Sons Eskvale and Cleveland League: Grangetown YCC v Whitby Fishermen.

Grangetown had all the play in the first half but failed to convert any of their goal scoring chances leaving the game goalless at the break. Grangetown continued to dominate in the second half until, against the run of play, a Dave Jones mistake gave Whitby a goal scoring opportunity which they gladly took. The home side scored two great goals from McClelland and Millington to take all three points.

Highland Laddie v Annaandale Hotel

The first 20 minutes were dominated by the Laddie, with Neesam strong in midfield. The Breakthrough came on 25 minutes when Combellack played in Dowson who slotted home from six yards. The second half continued with Laddie on top and goals from Burns and Combellack saw them take a three-goal lead. The introduction of Bell on 75 minutes led to a mini revival for Annandale. After some good work by Dewing and Thornton, Booth headed home to pull a goal back but Laddie stepped up the pace again and a long-range effort from Combellack gave them the 4-1 victory.

Lingdale Tavern v Redcar Mack Park

Tavern started the game with four key players missing but put up a good fight against a strong Mackinlay Park side. Mackinlay Park opened the scoring when mendon converted a penalty after a challenge in the box. Lingdale continued to attack but good defending from Porrit and Wood kept them at bay until a corner by Downing was met in the box by a solid header from Balls, giving the keeper no chance to level the score at half time. The second half was much the same with both keepers pulling off good saves. With ten minutes left Mackinlay Park clinched the points with a Richter shot at the far post to beat the Lingdale keeper.

Stakesby Arms v Lingdale Utd

A minute later Stakesby's Mike Headlam hit a 25 yard volley which hit the Lingdale post. The rebound successfully cleared by the Lingdale defence. In the 30th minute Hololob opened the scoring, a clever pass from Iseton found Hololob on side allowing him to volley home from ten yards. Two minutes later a one-two split the Stakesy defence, Watson passing to Iseton for him to tap in from close range. After making changes at half time Lingdale went 4-0 ahead, Cattermole cleverly chipping the keeper from the edge of the penalty area for his first and then created a bit of Lingdale magic with a scorpion kick for his second. A crisp shot into the corner of the net from Hololob, in the 62nd minute, gave the Stakesby keeper no chance. The young Stakesby side continued to battle to the end but to no avail Final score 0 - 5.
