A TEENAGER was ordered to be electronically tagged yesterday to keep him out of pubs.

The ankle tag will check Daniel Gollogly, 18, stays at home during a six month curfew, from 7pm at weekends and 9pm in the week.

Teesside Crown Court heard Gollogly was drunk when he attacked Simon Fletcher, who was walking home from a pizza shop in Marton, Middlesbrough.

Martina Connolly, prosecuting, said that the incident had happened after a girl followed Mr Fletcher and a friend and asked for some pizza, which they gave her.

Ms Connolly said when the girl asked for more food they ignored her and Gollogly, who was in the area, punched Mr Fletcher in the face several times and kicked his body when he fell to the ground.

Police found Mr Fletcher, 17, with injuries to his head, mouth, nose, hand and knees.

When police arrested Gollogly, who had a previous conviction for being drunk and disorderly, he said he had been attacked first.

Philip Lancaster, defending, said Gollogly's father had given up his offshore job to supervise his son.

He said: "It shows the family's resolve to put the drunken behaviour behind him.

"He is a young man who has had the correction he needs already so it should not happen again."

Gollogly, an apprentice, of Pritchett Road, in Ormesby, was ordered to do 22 hours community service and pay £500 compensation after he pleaded guilty to actual bodily harm.

He was also placed under the curfew.

Judge David Bryant said: "It is so you will not go out drinking with your friends and you would be well-advised to refrain from drinking whether at home during those hours or other hours when you are free to do so."
