The Great North Air Ambulance was forced to make an emergency landing at Teesside International Airport on Saturday.

A minor engine problem was discovered and emergency crews were alerted at about noon, but the aircraft touched down without incident. It underwent a safety inspection on Saturday afternoon.

MATCH ARRESTS: Four Darlington football fans were arrested for public order offences after Saturday's home game against Carlisle, which Darlington won 2-0. police said there was a 5,800 crowd at the match, with 1,000 fans travelling from Cumbria. Inspector Brian Maudling, from Darlington Police, said problems with traffic and parking near the Reynolds' Arena were minor.

CINEMA RAID: A robber escaped with an undisclosed sum of money after threatening a member of staff at the Showcase Cinema, on the Teesside Leisure Park, near Middlesbrough, in daylight on Friday. Cleveland Police are looking for a thin man, about 6ft 1in and aged about 30. He wore a cream baseball cap and black clothes. Anyone who can help the police should ring (01642) 302138.

ANTIQUES VALUATION: A charity antiques valuation day will be held at Walworth Castle Hotel, near Darlington, on Wednesday, September 17, between 10.30am and 3.30pm. Experts from Bonhams will assess artefacts for £2 for the first article and £1 each for each additional one. Proceeds will go to Butterwick Children's Hospice on Teesside. FUTURE PLANS: District councils will gather at Auckland Castle, Bishop Auckland, today to discuss the future of local government in the North-East, North West and Yorkshire. The meeting will be staged by the Boundary Committee for England, which is conducting a referendum on Regional Assemblies, and starts at 12.30pm.

YOUTH CHARGED: A 17-year-old youth has been charged with public order offences following an incident in Post House Wynd, Darlington, on Friday afternoon. He will appear at the town's youth court later this week. A man, believed to be in his 20s, needed hospital treatment.

CHARITY AID: Passengers have donated more than £1,000 to a charity box at Teesside International Airport this year. The money will go to the Sick Children's Trust, which pays for relatives to stay near their children when they are in hospital.

BOY FOUND: Footage from security cameras in Middlesbrough town centre led police to 14-year-old Brendan Oliver, who had been reported missing from the Wellesley Community Home in Blyth, Northumberland. It was thought he might be in Middlesbrough because his mother lives in the town.

WIND BREAK: The Redcar branch of the Royal British Legion is hoping that £900 worth of decorative railings installed around the resort's cenotaph will prevent strong winds blowing away wreaths and poppies. The first test will be Battle of Britain Sunday on September 21.
