Richmond has been put in the bigger picture thanks to a £2,000 upgrade to three security camera monitors used to relay images from the town centre.
The monitors are based at a control room in Catterick Garrison and display images to civilian operators from 11 cameras covering the market town.
The upgrade was need because the monitors were smaller that any others in the control room - putting Richmond at a disadvantage.
Richmond Business and Tourism Association contributed £700 towards the project, while the district council, which owns the system in partnership with Richmond Town Council, provided the balance.
Chairwoman of Richmondshire's Community Safety Partnership, Councillor Lynn Miller, said: "The monitors will enable operators to see images from Richmond more clearly, alongside images from 64 other cameras that feed into the control room.
"We are committed to reducing crime in Richmondshire and the CCTV system is a valuable tool, helping to prevent crimes from occurring in the first place, while also allowing the police to identify offenders."
