AN advertising campaign launched yesterday shows people in the North-East are not alone when it comes toconquering barriers they feel they have to overcome to find employment.

Speaking on the New Deal - The Deal is You're Not Alone campaign, Minister for Work Des Browne said: "These adverts show some of the barriers people feel are stopping them finding work.

"We want them to know that there is help out there and New Deal is the champion that can help them break through these barriers and realise their ambitions."

New Deal offers tailored support for people who are looking for work.

Together with their personal advisor, customers can identify their needs and ambitions and devise a programme to meet their own personal needs.

Mr Browne said: "We know that most people without jobs would rather be working and I'm convinced that the versatility New Deal offers means that these people will find the help they want.

"Throughout the North-East over 83,000 people have already found work through New Deal.

"I want to improve on that number and I want more people to share in the success of record employment this country is currently experiencing."
