Darlington Borough Council has embarked on a major charm offensive to bring jobs and investment to the town.
The authority secured £36,000 Single Regeneration Budget money to put towards a national campaign across property and investment magazines featuring Darlington as an attractive area for relocation.
The council is working with Tees Valley Regeneration upon a targeted Shared Services campaign to encourage 4,000 of the country's top national companies to consider Darlington and the Tees Valley as a suitable base to move to.
This would bring jobs in professional services such as finance, procurement, human resources and administration.
* The council will tonight vote to approve a submission to the Lyons Review of Public Service Relocation.
Councillors are expected to give their blessing to a document that outlines reasons why the town and the wider Tees Valley would be ideal to host a government department, which will then be sent to Sir Michael Lyons ahead of the Friday deadline for submissions.
