A MAN who was woken by a noisy gang outside his bedroom has appeared in court charged with affray.
Teesside Crown Court heard how Stephen Peacock, 28, had been sleeping off a heavy drinking session when he was woken by men outside his east Cleveland home.
Tim Bubb, prosecuting, said Peacock chased the culprits and assaulted one of them.
Peacock and his friend, Stephen Bird, 22, who joined in the chase, pleaded guilty to causing an affray on March 2.
Peacock, of Church Street, Redcar, was given a 50-hour community punishment order and a 12-month community rehabilitation order.
Bird, of Mersey Road, Redcar, was given a conditional discharge for 12 months.
Robin Turton, in mititgation, said Peacock's decision to chase the men down the street was a "foolish and stupid error".
