A new football team is hoping to take the league by storm in new kits.
Shildon Town Juniors Under-12s will compete in the Russell Foster Youth League.
The team, which is made up of youngsters from Shildon, West Auckland and Newton Aycliffe, have a lot to celebrate already after securing sponsorship deals.
Enhance Hairdressing, in Church Street, Shildon, has provided the boys with kits; Choice Linen in Newgate Street Bishop Auckland, has donated waterproof tops; and Shildon county councillor John Quigley has given the team £300.
The team practises on Wednesdays on the West Auckland Road playing fields. Team secretary Andy Summerbell said that they had received generous support since starting out and were looking forward to playing in the league.
