A LONE cyclist may hold clues to a stabbing.

The biker was filmed on closed-circuit television (CCTV) as a fight broke out between two Somalis.

The cyclist was filmed watching paramedics put one of the men, who was stabbed, into an ambulance.

Cleveland Police are keen to speak to witnesses to the incident in central Stockton last Thursday.

"In particular, they are keen to trace a man on a bike who could prove vital to their inquiries,'' said a force spokesman.

"CCTV captured him both on Skinner Street where an altercation broke out between two Somali males and Hartington Road where one man collapsed from his wounds.

"The cyclist was also pictured, sat watching the paramedics put the wounded man in the ambulance."

The 22-year-old Somali man, who was stabbed in the neck, is in intensive care at the University Hospital of North Tees, where his condition is said to be stable but poorly.

A 42-year-old Dutch national of Somali origin has been charged with attempted murder and been remanded in custody until Tuesday.

The cyclist has short, dark hair, of medium height and build. He was wearing a light coloured or blue padded waist-length jacket, grey or blue jeans and white trainers.

He rode a light coloured or possible blue mountain bike.
