Ian Scott was the only Quaker participant at the Eccup 10 mile road race near Leeds on Sunday, July 20. Ian cruised round the undulating course in 59:31 breaking the club record for male over 50 and took the 1st vet over 50 prize to finish 5th overall out of 344 competitors.

On Sunday, July 27, the 4th Durham Dales Fell Series was held - Monks Moor. First home in an excellent time of 01:29:52 was Ed Nash from Kendal.

Darren Maddison therefore wins the overall series with a total of 386 points, followed by Richard Hughes, 366 points and Sheila Davies, 357 points.

The Auckland Castle 10K road race also saw a good turnout. This time Andy Henderson led the Quaker contingent to finish this hilly course in a time of 36:06 to finish 49th out of 600 competitors. Next home was Wayne Bramley who finished 54th in 37:01.

Twelve Quakers competed at the New Marske 5K road race on Tuesday, September 2. Wayne Bramley led the way to finish 15th out of 113 competitors in a personal best time of 17:13 and breaking the existing club record. Next home was Dave Giblin, also achieving a personal best time of 19:20.

Durham City Harriers

Shaun Moralee, 18, from Langley Park and representing Durham City Harriers had a brilliant run in the final of the North of England inter-club cup at Cudworth, Barnsley.

Shaun was competing in the senior men's 800m and in the race of the day managed to pull off a great victory and set another personal best time of 1:53.63 with all eight athletes getting under two minutes.

At the end of a great competition Durham City Harriers finished sixth out of the eight teams who had qualified for the final.

Since then Shaun, as a result of his fine performance at Cudworth and his excellent performances throughout the season, was selected for the North of England in the inter-area match at Watford (U20) against the Midlands and the South, his first representative honour.
