A POPULAR North-East comic is to record his act for release on video, after 50 years in showbusiness.

Gateshead-born Alan Snell, 64, a favourite on the region's club circuit, has never released a video before.

"I've had several offers to make a recording in the past, but I've always turned them down," he said. "I didn't want to think that people coming to see me might have already heard the gags on a tape."

The video recording takes place at 7.30pm on Sunday, September 28, at Newcastle Playhouse.
