POLICE took the unusual step yesterday of naming a man they are hunting in connection with a robbery.

They said forensic evidence found at the scene in Stillington, North Yorkshire, linked 48-year-old Keith Davis with a break-in at the home of an elderly man early on Sunday.

The homeowner struggled with an intruder and managed to push him down the stairs. However, the victim was stabbed in the face during the scuffle and, although not seriously hurt, was left shaken by his ordeal.

Peterborough-born Davis was believed to have been sleeping rough in the Stillington area and is wanted in connection with other crimes in North Yorkshire as well as elsewhere in the country.

Anyone with information is urged to contact North Yorkshire Police on (01609) 783131 or Crimestoppers in confidence on 0800 555111.
