YOUNGSTERS at a Darlington primary school have a new football strip thanks to a local business.

House builder Bussey and Armstrong have sponsored Alderman Leach Primary School's new strip, after Paul I'Anson, year five teacher and football coach, wrote to the company seeking help.

"The old strips were starting to get a bit shabby, so I wrote to Bussey and Armstrong to see if they would be interested in a sponsorship deal. The kids are absolutely delighted with it," he said.

"This is the first year we have started a girls team, so both the girls and boy's teams will be able to wear the new royal blue strip."

Tony Cooper, director of Bussey and Armstrong, is a former pupil of Alderman Leach Primary School, in Cockerton, and his company is involved with the school's relocation to West Park, Faverdale, expected to take place a year's time.

But Mr Cooper said that was only part of the reason for sponsoring the strip, because the company had bought equipment for several schools.
