MIDDLESBROUGH soccer star Szilard Nemeth has been fined by magistrates after he was caught speeding in his four-wheel drive car.
The Boro striker and Slovakian player was captured on a speed camera doing 79mph on the A66 dual carriageway near Stockton, Teesside, on December 30 last year.
Yesterday, Nemeth, 26, of Ingleby Barwick, Teesside, pleaded guilty by letter to speeding in his Ford Maverick. He did not appear at Teesside Magistrates' Court, in Middlesbrough, for the three-minute hearing.
Samantha Morgan-Bayliss, prosecuting, said Nemeth had no previous driving convictions.
She said: "In his letter, the defendant has nothing to say about the offence."
Nemeth, who joined Boro from Inter Bratislava two seasons ago, was fined £80 with £12 court costs. His licence was endorsed with three penalty points.
