TWO businesses are negotiating leases for the much-delayed seafront building near Saltburn pier. A spokesman for Redcar and Cleveland Council said one firm was interested in leasing the caf/restaurant and the other the retail unit.

He declined to identify the firms, but said negotiations were ongoing.

The two-storey building was built by Saltburn Improvement Company under its Rural Challenge programme and the council is acting as manager.

The project has been delayed by the discovery of a sewer pipe under the promenade and the cliff behind the building slipping after heavy rain.
