Students who attended Winifred Hodge's art classes in Leyburn are presenting an exhibition.

Painting for Pleasure will be at the town's Tennants Auction Rooms from October 18 until November 1. Admission is free, but any donations and a percentage of the sales will be shared between Low Mill activity centre, Askrigg, and the Foxglove Covert wildlife centre, Catterick.

SCHOOL REUNION: Former pupils of the primary school at Terrington, near Malton, are being invited to a reunion at the village hall on Saturday, October 25. Present pupils will act as guides.

CRAFT DISPLAY: Christine Martin will demonstrate the art of making winter hanging baskets and containers at an event at Brompton Methodist Church on Friday, at 7pm. Entry will be £2 and refreshments will be available.

COFFEE BREAK: The Thirsk branch of Yorkshire Cancer Research is inviting people to a coffee day at the town's Golden Fleece Hotel on Wednesday, from 10am until 4pm. Stalls will be set up selling Christmas cards and cakes and there will be a tombola and raffle.

GO GREEN: Firms are being urged to develop green travel plans at an event organised by Scarborough Borough Council. The event, at St Hilda's Business Centre, Whitby, tomorrow, will give businesses information on how to get their staff to and from work without creating congestion and pollution.
