A POLICE chief is appealing for more information about drug dealing in his area.

Chief Superintendent Adrian Roberts, district commander of Langbaurgh police, said a dealer-a-day crackdown across east Cleveland had achieved great results in the first quarter of its operation.

But he appealed to residents to keep the information coming.

He said: "In order for dealer-a-day to proceed, we need the help of the public, and I urge those who have, perhaps, been hesitant to speak out to follow the example set by others and talk to the police in confidence.

"I would also urge the public not to get complacent and assume we know about drug dealing in a particular area, just because they've made one call.

"If drug dealing is going on, keep calling. The pledge I can give is that, if you provide good quality up-to-date intelligence about drug dealing in your community, we will respond to it and keep the initiative going.''

Since July, police officers have carried out 108 raids and made 109 arrests.

They also seized more than £50,000-worth of drugs, including heroin, crack cocaine, Ecstasy, amphetamine and cannabis.

Police officers also recovered nearly £10,000 in cash during the operations.
